The Bridge Obstacle
Asking your horse to cross a bridge for the first time can be very challenging, and most horses will not do it with confidence.
Ground Tying
The Stand and Sit challenge is usually quite entertaining to watch. The rider usually does a bit of pleading with the horse and then attempts to walk away, keeping one eye on the horse and often going back to the horse to do some more pleading. Since our horses are used to following us, it takes some practice to help them understand that we want them to stay put while we leave them.
The Curtain Obstacle
The curtain is a fun obstacle and very popular. The best way to introduce a horse to the curtains is on the ground. You can separate the curtains in the middle and tie half of them to each side. Then, lead your horse through the frame. Depending on your horse’s experience, just walking through the stand might be enough of a challenge in the beginning stage.
The Rope Gate Obstacle
The rope gate is a very challenging obstacle but once you and your horse master it, it's very rewarding. There are a number of ways to approach this obstacle.
